Gimmighoul Coin Farming Guide
Gimmighoul is a cute, rare Pokémon that was introduced in Generation 9, along with the Paldea region. Along with it being the 999th Pokémon in the National Dex, it is a Ghost-Type with a sufficiently creepy backstory. This Pokémon is heavily sought after by many trainers due in part to its powerful evolution, Gholdengo.
To evolve Gimmighoul into Gholdengo, you’ll first need to acquire 999 Gimmighoul Coins from across Paldea. This guide should help you achieve this milestone and get your very own Gholdengo!
Gimmighoul Forms
Gimmighoul is a Pokémon with two different forms: Chest and Roaming. Whilst they are the same Pokémon, they do differ.
You cannot catch Roaming Gimmighoul, but you will receive coins simply by interacting with it.
Unlike the Roaming Gimmighoul, you must battle the Chest form and either defeat or catch the Pokémon to obtain the coins. You should catch at least one, as it is necessary for the evolution into Gholdengo. The number of coins you will receive varies depending on the form and chance.
Roaming Form
Coins | Chance |
---|---|
1 | 50% |
3 | 20% |
5 | 20% |
10 | 7% |
30 | 2% |
50 | 0.9% |
100 | 0.09% |
200 | 0.01% |
Chest Form
Coins | Chance |
---|---|
10 | 30% |
30 | 39% |
50 | 30% |
100 | 5% |
200 | 0.9% |
777 | 0.1% |
Once you interact with a Gimmighoul, it will disappear in the overworld. The game will initiate a roll to respawn the Gimmighouls every in-game day (approximately 72 real world minutes). The Roaming Form has a 50% chance to respawn, while the Chest Form has a 5% chance.
Collecting Gimmighoul Coins
Every Gimmighoul that you encounter along your journey will give you coins. But where can you find these seemingly elusive Pokémon? The Roaming form of Gimmighoul can be found all over Paldea, usually on top of rocks, signs or near Pokémon Centers.
Due to their small size, these Ghimmighoul will cry when you’re near, so be sure to turn your game volume up while hunting for Gimmighoul!
On the other hand, the Chest form of Gimmighoul is exclusively limited to the various ruins and watch towers that are located around the map.
Chest Locations Map
The exact locations where Gimmighoul Chest form appears can be seen on the map below. Try to break them up into groups and check all the spawns in one area before moving on to the next.
Gimmighoul Coin NPC
Lastly, there is an NPC in Medali that will "hold on" to any coins that you pick up after reaching the maximum of 999. He will give you 20 coins from the beginning if you have not yet collected over 999 coins, so it is recommended that you pay him a visit to bump up your coin count.
Time to Evolve
Once you have reached that long-awaited goal of 999 Gimmighoul Coins, it’s time to evolve your Gimmighoul into the 1000th Pokémon, Gholdengo!
Simply level-up your Gimmighoul with all 999 Gimmighoul Coins in your possession, and you will be taken to the evolution screen and be awarded with a Gholdengo!
