How to Use Poké Balls
To use Poké Balls in Pokémon GO, players must first encounter a Pokémon to catch by tapping on a Pokémon on the map, completing a raid or Max Battle, or as a reward from certain Research Tasks.
During the encounter, a player's aim is tested as they must throw the ball and land inside a small circle, all while the Pokémon is moving and dodging.
Throws receive grades based on how small the circle is. The smaller the circle, the better the grade, and the higher the chance the Pokémon will be caught.
