Medicine
Potions are Medicine items that can be used to heal your Pokémon for 20 Hit Points when not in a battle. Potions are the weakest of the Hit Point recovery items. Super Potions, Hyper Potions, and Max Potions all grant more HP on use making them a more efficient use of inventory space.
How to Get Potions
The best ways to obtain Potions in Pokémon GO are by spinning PokéStops and Gyms or by opening Gifts. Potions are also given out as a reward for completing Field Research Tasks, but this method is not as efficient.
Note: Potions are only obtainable once the player has reached level 5.
How to Use Potions
To use a Potion, tap the Poké Ball menu, then tap "Items" to open your inventory. Next, select the type of potion you want to use, and a list of your injured Pokémon will appear. Tap an individual Pokémon to heal it, or select "Heal All" to heal all of your Pokémon, consuming as many potions as needed.
